Co-Founder/Asst. Director of SC Infinite Dreams Youth Organization
Vania Redd is from West Columbia, SC and attended Fulmer Middle & Airport High School. During her career in high school she was ranked in the top 10 percent of her graduating class, President of the student body her senior year and Vice President her Junior year, she participated in orchestra and played both the Cello and the Bass (9yrs), she was an active Beta Club member, in the National Honor Society, FCA and Honor Roll student. Not only was Vania involved in her school work, but she participated in Volleyball, Track, Softball and Basketball. During the summer she played AAU Basketball.
COLLEGE CAREER (2001 - 2005):
She played in the SEC conference for the University of South Carolina in Columbia as one the top recruits in South Carolina coming out of high school. During her 2nd year at South Carolina, Vania tore her lateral meniscus and had surgery in December of 2002. After surgery, Vania rehabbed and worked her way back into practicing full-time.
After the season, Vania transferred to USC Upstate to finish out her basketball career on a basketball scholarship as well as pursue a double major in Mass Comm. and Graphic Design. Before Vania graduated from USC Upstate, she already had a Full-Time job at SC ETV in Columbia after she graduated in December of '05.
GRADUATE SCHOOL (2007 - 2009):
Vania attended the University of South Carolina and received her Master's in Media Arts (film, video, audio, photography). While attending classes 5 days a week, Vania continued working at SC ETV as a TV Producer and Video Editor. During her time at ETV, Vania has produced and edited over 350 television shows and have met and interviewed top legislators, philanthropist and more.
COACHING CAREER (2008 - Current)
As a high school basketball coach her career total for wins/lose is 62 - 12. For two seasons in a row, 2010/2011 and 2011/2012, her Airport JV girl's team was undefeated. Vania is very passionate about developing players’ individual skills as well as mentoring them throughout the year on finding a balance between being a student athlete and young lady. She Coaches AAU basketball as well as work individual summer camps. Her motto that she tries to instil in her players is that “All Things Are Possible” with dedication and hard work.
Vania is currently working in her field as an E-Learning Developer at one of the top companies in South Carolina. She is an active member of Brookland Baptist Church where she works in the Media department doing Graphics and videography on Sundays. She continues to coach and mentor young girls at Airport High School and with IDreams and is a Full-Time mother with one daughter that's 3 years old. Vania considers her daughter to be the Best Gift in her life and loves the opportunity to share her knowledge and patience with her own child.
Coach Redd considers herself Blessed and Highly Favored in many ways and knows that basketball played a major part in laying the foundation for how she carries herself, how hard she works and has taught her how to win through adversity.
